Home of the Confraternita dei Disciplinati
The position of the Oratory of San Giacomo, on the main road that led to Lucinasco, confirms the reason for the entitlement: San Giacomo is the patron saint of pilgrims. The organization of pilgrimages was among the main tasks of the confraternity that had its seat there.
For reasons still unknown, the first chapel was abandoned and the oratory of San Giacomo transferred to the grounds of Palazzo Guglieri before the end of the eighteenth century.
The small sacristy still shows today the proof that the sacred place was part of a private palace, hosting two large olive oil storage troughs. The joints of its interior, made of big slate (lavagna) plates, are sealed with alder coal.
