The legend of the three thieves
Buggio is the last inhabited village you can find ascending the Nervia Valley. Its origins are very ancient, early medieval at least.
A splendid village to visit, it also stands out in the gastronomy: a particular bean with a very delicate skin is grown here, likewise those of Pigna and Conio.
Legend has it that three thieves, fleeing from Occitan France, took refuge in Nervia Valley, founding the village to which they gave the name Buccio (pre-Roman term meaning Vitello), which over time became Buggio.
